The distinctive conical crown, in DLC Black Edition, is inspired by the early days of aviation when pilots braved the elements in unheated cockpits. Traditional Pilot’s Watches featured oversized crowns, designed for easy grip and operation even while wearing thick gloves and padded flight suits. This modern interpretation pays homage to that heritage, offering both functionality and a nod to the adventurous spirit of those pioneering aviators.
What is DLC?
Diamond-like carbon (DLC) is a class of amorphous carbon material that displays some of the typical properties of diamond. As the name suggests, diamond-like-carbon means that the layer is as scratch-resistant as diamonds. DLC coating has 5 times the hardness of a 316L stainless steel. With DLC being harder than steel, this means that a DLC coated watch will have a very high resistance to scratches that you will not have to worry about scratching your watch. This coating will not disappear if you accidentally do something that would otherwise leave a huge mark on some PVD-method coated watches. A feature that is highly coveted by many watch enthusiasts.
Water pressure tested to 200m. Similar to SKX013 crown, when properly installed and tighten, it is Diver's 200m rated.
